Medical Weight Loss Management Q&A

What is medical weight loss management?

Medical weight loss management is a weight loss plan implemented and supervised by a licensed physician. Dr. Said understands that obesity isn’t a one-size-fits-all condition. The reasons behind your weight gain might not be as simple as overeating or lack of exercise.

Using evidence-based approaches, Dr. Said can design a weight loss plan that suits your unique needs.

How is a medical weight loss plan created?

Creating your personalized medical weight loss plan is a multistep process that includes:

Physical exam

During your physical exam, Dr. Said takes your vitals and measures your height, weight, and body mass index (BMI). He also performs an electrocardiogram (EKG), which tracks the electrical activity of your heart to check for signs of heart disease.

Dr. Said even performs a body composition analysis and measures your muscle mass, fat content, water content, and neck circumference to better assess your health and your weight loss goals.

In addition to your physical exam, Dr. Said reviews your medical history to help determine what might be causing your weight gain.

Lab work

A poor-functioning thyroid gland, hormone imbalances, insulin resistance, iron deficiencies, and high cholesterol and triglycerides can all contribute to weight gain. They can also make it difficult for you to lose weight without medical help.

A comprehensive weight management panel checks your cholesterol 4 profiles, liver enzymes, kidney profile, glucose level, calcium level, complete blood picture, thyroid activity, and more to help determine the right diet and exercise plan for you.

What is included in my personalized weight loss plan?

Every medical weight loss plan at Trinity Health Center is customized to each patient. Depending on the results of your assessment, your medical weight management plan can include:

Behavioral changes

The goal of behavioral changes for weight loss is to change the way you think about nutrition and exercise. Not only can behavioral changes help you cut back on overeating, but they can also improve your health, increase energy levels, improve sleep quality, and boost self-esteem over time.

Nutrition counseling

Depending on the results of your physical exam and blood work, Dr. Said can help you figure out exactly which foods to eat — and which to avoid — for optimal weight loss.

Exercise

While nearly any form of exercise is better than none, Dr. Said’s testing helps determine which type will produce the best results for you. This may mean increasing strength training and cutting back on your cardio levels or vice versa.

Medications

Dr. Said offers oral vitamin supplements, IV vitamin therapy, oral fat burners, injectable fat burners, and FDA-approved appetite suppressants to stimulate your weight loss.

With Dr. Said’s help, you can look and feel like the healthiest version of yourself. For more information, call Trinity Health Center.
